YMCA South Australia Hits New Heights
YMCA South Australia (the Y) has had another outstanding year of growth, in fact, it’s best yet! Revenue increased 30% from the prior year, with total staff numbers growing to 955 with 150 new jobs created. Even more importantly, the Association continues to enhance its reputation for sector leadership, service quality, social impact, and as a preferred employer.
The Y made an impact on two million visitors last financial year spread across recreation, Outside School Hours Care (OSHC), and Early Learning Care (ELC). In recreation services alone, participation at the Y generated a combined $13 million in social value (as calculated by ActiveXchange). That’s $13 million of positive impact on the communities we serve!
Highlights from the year include:
- Welcoming our INEA (Walkerville) YMCA colleagues who officially merged into our entity, thereby consolidating the YMCA’s operations in South Australia.
- The new Purruna aquatic and recreation centre at Scotch College opened in 2023 and is performing well.
- Our community presence continues to grow with 50 locations throughout South Australia, adding Kensington (Pembroke College) fitness centre and six new OSHC services.
- Our longstanding history with the defence force has been re-established with the securing of a grant to manage the Defence Families Support Program for a two-year period.
- We now have new allied health consulting suites at three locations: The Parks, Marion Fitness & Leisure Centre and Scotch College.
Once again, we would like to thank our staff and volunteers for their amazing efforts. Our community, and our partnerships, are all the stronger for it.
