The Y extends recreation contracts

YMCA South Australia (the Y) has announced the extension of more major recreation contracts after recently adding the new Purruna Spencer Newton Centre at Scotch College to its portfolio.

After successfully opening The Parks Recreation and Sports Centre as the inaugural operator in 2014, the South Australian Government has acknowledged the Y’s dedication to growing the centre’s community footprint by adding another five years to its management contract.

And, in a boost for regional South Australia, the Y has also secured another five-year contract to run the Whyalla Recreation Centre, with a second five-year option, while also extending its partnership with Alexandrina Council to manage the Strathalbyn Outdoor Pool beyond 2023.

Chief Operations Officer at the Y, Andrew Mundy, said the faith shown in the not-for-profit to professionally manage large community assets underlined the organisation’s leadership in the industry.

“Recreation and leisure is a very competitive environment and providing a high-quality service while maintaining pricing at a level that enables access to everyone is a delicate balance. I’m very proud that we are able to continue to serve the needs of these communities and provide access to our industry-leading programs and services,” he said.

“The Y is embedded in South Australia as a trusted and well-managed brand which, in turn, provides us with the motivation and drive to extend our reach even further across the state. No other management operator can provide the consistent quality and range of services that we can.”
