Premier Gymnastics Centre to launch at State Sports Park
YMCA South Australia (“the Y”) is excited to announce a significant addition to South Australia’s gymnastics capacity, with the new landmark centre to be located at the centre of SA’s sporting ecosystem, at the State Sports Park. It will open in late 2024 with programs tailored for individuals of all ages and skill levels.
With gymnastics being among the top 5 sports for young people in South Australia, and with many families looking for new gymnastics options for their children, the Y is expecting significant demand. This is the YMCA’s fourth gymnastics centre in South Australia, adding to those already located at Glengowrie, Seaford, and O’Sullivan Beach. In time, the new centre will effectively double the Y’s gymnastics capacity in Adelaide to around 2500 participants.
"The YMCA is excited to begin this journey in the State Sports Park, with this significant investment in the health, development, and sporting potential of South Australia’s young people. It aligns perfectly with our mission of helping people grow in their physical, mental, and social wellbeing, and it extends our role as the leading multi-site provider in this State," said David Paterson, CEO of YMCA South Australia.
"This initiative will enable more individuals to enjoy the benefits of gymnastics, including improved movement skills, fitness, and confidence. The State Sports Park Gymnastics program will be led by Haydn Bellamy, who oversees all YMCA gymnastics programs and is the former State Director of Gymnastics SA. We look forward to continued success and positive impact on the northeastern community."
Co-located with Croatian Sports Centre on Anna Meares Way, Gepps Cross, the new YMCA Gymnastics centre will open in late 2024.
Juli Cirjak President of the Croatian Sports Centre said, “The Croatian Sports Centre is looking forward with excitement to welcoming the YMCA to be an integral part of our community and sporting facility on the newly constructed upper level. We look forward to a beneficial collaboration and continued growth development of sport for State Sports Park of South Australia.”
