Good things come in threes, take a dip for $3 this winter
The Fleurieu Aquatic Centre will be kicking off its $3 Dip initiative this July through to August, where children and families can visit the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre on Sundays to swim for just $3. Children can also pick up a free piece of fruit as part of their $3 Dip visit.
The pool inflatable, as well as water sports such as water polo and water volleyball will be used during sessions. The activities are designed to make moving and exercise fun and engaging, the activity will vary each week.
James Lomax, Recreation Development Manager at the YMCA says “The program is designed to take away financial barriers to participating in recreational activity and provide a fun activity that people want to take part in over winter. We want to encourage children and families to get out and move their bodies to maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
The initiative by Fleurieu Aquatic Centre is funded by the Active Club Grant program by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing, which provides funding to community projects to better communities and health outcomes associated with recreation and sport.
“According to 2022 National Health Survey data from the ABS, 26% of children aged 2-17 are overweight or obesity. The YMCA is committed to providing programs to promote a healthy lifestyle and the $3 Dip is aimed at ensuring children can be active and create good health habits through food and exercise” says Mr Lomax.
To take advantage of the $3 dip, simply visit Fleurieu Aquatic Centre on any Sunday 10an- 3pmthroughout July and August for a swim.
