The YMCA SA App is built on the industry leading MyWellness platform, providing easy and convenient class bookings. New customers should make their initial purchase online (click here), then once signed up download the YMCA SA App for ongoing account management and purchases.

To book a class: Click 'Book a Class', select a day and choose a class, then click 'Book'. Bookings can be made 21 days in advance, and cancelled within 2hrs of the start of the class.

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is quickly gaining popularity due to it's unmatched ability to deliver a low-impact, energising full body workout. Utilising a reformer machine, Pilates exercises become more dynamic, with increased range of motion and variety, creating ideal conditions for building and toning muscle and increasing joint stability.

The reformer is a bed-like frame with a flat platform, called the carriage, which rolls back and forth on wheels within the frame. The carriage is attached to one end by a set of springs which provide resistance, as the user uses the footbar, straps and other parts of the machine to complete a variety of Pilates based exercises.

How do I purchase a Class Pack?

How do I book a class?

Once you complete the initial purchase online in a web browser, download the YMCA SA App and manage your class bookings, class credits and future Class Pack purchases through the App. You can book classes up to 21 days in advance. Need help - call us on 8294 6488.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations are permitted up to 2 hours prior to class start time; as a courtesy to other potential participants, we request that you ensure you cancel your class booking if you do not intend to attend – this will ensure that there is opportunity for other participants to book in.

If you cancel within the required 2 hour timeframe, a class credit will be returned to your class pack; should you not do so, you will forego your class credit for that particular class.

What happens if my class is cancelled?

If nobody has booked into a class within 2 hours of the start time the class will be cancelled. classes may also be cancelled due to instructor unavailability and we will contact you as soon as possible prior to the class starting, any used credits will be refunded.

How many times can I use the Introductory offer?

The Introductory offer of 5 Sessions for $50 is to use within 21 days weeks is only available to new clients of Holdfast Pilates. The Introductory offer may be used once per person.

Can I suspend or extend my Introductory Offer or Pack?

We do not allow suspensions or extensions on your Introductory Offer or Session packs unless you are injured, in which case we will ask for a medical certificate from your doctor. Please be aware when purchasing your Introductory Offer or Session pack that you will be required to use your pack within the specified usage period and any unused sessions will expire.

Is there an age limit at Holdfast Pilates?

Yes, the minimum age to attend a class at Holdfast Pilates is 16 years old.

What about fitness limitations or existing injuries?

This will depend on the injury. For your safety, we request you get a medical certificate from your GP/Physio before you attend. We recommend that you contact the studio prior to attending to discuss your injury and how it may impact your ability to participate.

How many people in a class?

We have a maximum of 8 clients per class. Our small group classes allow our instructors to tailor exercises to each client’s needs.

What do I wear to class?

Please ensure you wear appropriate and comfortable fitness attire; we recommend gym tights, leggings or shorts and either a t-shirt or singlet top.

Grip socks will be required to be worn at all times.

What class do I start with?

If you have never done reformer Pilates before we strongly recommend you attend an orientation class to familiarise yourself with the reformers and concepts that will be used during classes.

If you have experience with reformer Pilates, we offer a range of classes to suit different levels of experience including beginner, intermediate, and specialised classes. If you have participated in reformer Pilates but are still unsure, start with a beginner class and our instructors will be able to guide you to the most suitable class.

We do reserve the right to restrict clients to a particular class type for safety reasons if we feel necessary.

I have never done Reformer Pilates before.

That is absolutely fine! We are excited that you have chosen to join us.

We recommend you attend one of our orientation classes to familiarise yourself with reformers and concepts that will be explored further in other classes. The orientation classes are free and will not be deducted from your class pass.

Once familiar with reformers, the majority of clients gain confidence in our beginner classes. Due to the small number of clients within our classes, our instructors can tailor exercises to your level and abilities.

If you have any chronic conditions, back pain, or are coming back from an injury or are pregnant, we strongly recommend that you contact our studio to discuss your best options. Trainers can work with you to modify exercises to accommodate fitness limitations and some pre-existing conditions or injuries. Please be sure to tell the trainer before EVERY class about limitations or injuries which may impact your participation. Before commencing training all participants must complete the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q).

What do I need to know for my first class?

Arrive 10 minutes early to your first class so you can familiarise yourself with the studio and you can meet the instructor and they can introduce you to the reformer bed.

I’m Pregnant, can I still attend a Pilates Reformer Class?

Yes but we recommend consulting with your medical practitioner first and notifying us. The instructor will discreetly guide you through safe exercises throughout your pregnancy. Please tell your trainer that you are pregnant before class so they can ensure programming is safe, and remember to bring extra water to stay hydrated.

How long before I can attend Pilates classes post pregnancy?

We ask that you wait until after you receive the all clear from your 6-week obstetrician check up to ensure it is safe for you to return to exercise.

Can I bring my child to my classes?

For your child’s safety and for other client’s class enjoyment we don’t allow children to attend the studio.
