Are you passionate about teaching swimming and water safety to young children? At Purruna Spencer Newton Centre, we are looking for dedicated swimming teachers to join our friendly and supportive team.

As a Swim Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire young swimmers and promote a lifelong love of the water. We believe in the importance of fostering a love for swimming at an early age and are eager to welcome like-minded individuals who share our commitment.

THE ROLE

As a YMCA Swim Teacher, reporting to the Swim School Manager, you will:

  • Embrace the YMCA philosophy in relation to aquatic programs and uphold high educational and teaching standards.
  • Deliver safe, effective, and professional swimming lessons with enthusiasm, patience, and innovation.
  • Implement engaging lesson plans that promote group teaching methods, focusing on both stroke development and water safety.
  • Foster student interaction and collaboration through thoughtfully structured activities.
  • Collaborate with your team to create a supportive and welcoming environment for all.
  • Set a positive example for parents by effectively communicating, guiding, and establishing clear boundaries and expectations for children.
  • Commit to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Show respect and understanding for individuals of all talents, abilities, and backgrounds.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:

  • AUSTSWIM or Swim Australia Teacher accreditation
  • HLTAID009 Provide CPR
  • Certificate of completion for “Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care” (RRHAN-EC) Training
  • Weekend Availability
