THE ROLE
The Purruna Spencer Newton Centre is a wellbeing learning hub with indoor aquatics, fitness, and stadium facilities located at Scotch College. The Centre is managed by YMCA South Australia in partnership with the College.
The Purruna Spencer Newton Centre has been designed to deliver wellbeing outcomes for students, staff, and the broader community. Its purpose is to improve wellbeing by increasing physical activity levels, developing skills, and stimulating social and mental fitness.
The Swim School Director is an experienced, passionate and innovative minded aquatics and swimming lessons professional focusing on two core deliverables: exceptional swimming programming and a high standard of customer service. The role will play an integral function in the development and growth of the swim school and birthday party programs.
The Swim School Director will be highly visible working closely with the Centre Manager and centre’s leadership team, College and key sports and educational organisations forming strong relationships for improved access and health outcomes.
With over 1,500 swim school enrolments and a professional team of 33 Swim Instructors, the Swim School Director will be an efficient, well organised and strong leader, demonstrating commitment to staff development and training. Emphasis on people leadership, culture building and motivation in a dynamic, challenging environment will require excellent communication and presentation skills.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification in recreation or equivalent
- National Criminal History Records Check (NCHRC) (must be within 6 months of issue date).
- International police check (for applicants who have worked overseas in the last 5 years).
- DHS South Australian Employment Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- RRHAN-EC Masterclass – Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education & Care.
- HLTAID009 Perform CPR or equivalent.
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid or equivalent.
- AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety or Swim Australia Teacher accreditation or equivalent.
