The YMCA of South Australia is seeking a passionate and dedicated Service Director to lead our new Early Learning Centre (ELC) opening in Strathalbyn in early 2025. The position will begin in November/December 2024 for induction, training, and support in establishing the new centre. This is a full-time role, working 76 hours per fortnight.
As a motivated, customer-focused leader, the Service Director will play a key role in building and leading a team of committed Educators who are dedicated to delivering exceptional care and education under the National Quality Framework.
In this role, you will help create a high-quality environment that promotes the social, emotional, and interpersonal development of children. You'll foster a supportive and welcoming atmosphere where children, families, and educators feel valued, safe, and happy.
THE ROLE
As an ELC Service Director, reporting to the Early Learning and Administration Manager, you will:
- Provide leadership to ensure quality care and educational programs for children, as well as direction, support, and continuous learning for staff according to the National Quality Standards.
- Lead and share information, knowledge and expertise on practice, policy developments and community changes that may impact on the program.
- Plan for and facilitate the inclusion of children with additional needs, including children with disabilities, children with complex health support needs, Aboriginal children and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. This may include the management of inclusive support services funding.
- Encourage children to contribute views and ideas to enhance the service and support the philosophy of the service.
- Assist in development of staff, including performance development plans and training requirements
- Create a service of integrity and security for all children, families and employees involved.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:
- Tertiary qualifications in Children’s Services (relevant field)
- Certificate of completion for “Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care” (RRHAN-EC) Training
- Current HLTAID012 Provide Emergency First Aid in an Education & Care Setting
- Current HLTAID009 Provide CPR
- Proven Experience as a Service Director and experience in a similar Leadership capacity
- Ability to provide leadership and direction to staff including maintaining the standards of services
- Demonstrated ability to create a welcoming atmosphere by engaging all people in a friendly and approachable manner
